Meeting Minutes – 2nd April 2017

2017 marked the 3rd appearance of our club both as stall holders, performers on the podium and in the Parade of the Nations.

This was the second time the Czech and Slovak Club Tauranga plus friends from Czech/slovak clubs in Wellington and Auckland set off for the mountains in Whakapapa ski fields.

This year we met at Redwood Valley Farm for two nights to celebrate the Czech tradition – Burning of Witches

This Easter Monday was already the 5th year we celebrated Easter with our children. There was about 42 of us, including participants from as far as Hamilton.

Night with Andersen first started in 2000 in The Czech Republic and has since grown internationally. The date has been chosen to mark the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen. To promote and encourage reading books, children stay in a library overnight and read stories together with adults.

This year’s Easter Monday was very eventful.

The 17th year of Multicultural Festival in Tauranga, organised by Multicultural Tauranga, took place last Saturday (19th March 2016) and our Club and children from the Czech school and playgroup were there to mark the occasion!

his was already fourth year of summer camp for bilingual children from our Czech and Slovak community. We managed to secure a better, private location, so our friends from Auckland, Wellington and the South Island were also able to join us.
